Who or What is the Moral Standard Bearing for or in Dominica?

Luke 6:42 NIV 42 “How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. You actor (pretender, hypocrite)! First take the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye.”

John 8:17 AMP “However, when they persisted in questioning Him, He straightened up and said, “He who is without [any] sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”

These days we are preoccupied with morality utterances and pronouncements made by the UWP requesting that the PM and his entire cabinet demit from office based on mere allegations and innuendo. Without concrete proof, judicial review, or criminal convictions. These allegations will remain what they truly are. ALLEGATIONS.

An opinion is a view or judgement about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge. These utterance by members of the opposition and their lackeys are examples of opinions based on their subjective beliefs, and they are yet to prove any of their allegations.

Let’s examine our social morality beliefs for a minute: it’s mostly based on our subjective opinions. Over time, subjective opinions do become policy or become part of our social morality beliefs; that is over a period of time, as I mentioned before. Our Dominican society, for starters, is one not big on lawful marriages or faithfulness (a fact): that is frowned upon or ridiculed by many male counterparts. People whom I thought were married, were in fact common-law partners. Hence, we have created a society of bastards, i.e. Children born out of wedlock because of our subjective opinions. To add insult to injury, we encourage this sort of immoral decadence: we glorify men and women who cheat on their spouses, or have multiple partners. We have today, honorable men in parliament, whose families have had a history of such deviancy, and yet they get praised for speaking truth to power. Again, remove the log in your eye before you complain about the spec in your comrades eye. Compounded to this is the rampant deviant sexual behavior of adult men or men with social status preying on young children. A topic that was not missed at this year’s calypso competition. The Calypso King penned a brilliant social commentary song, and there were a few other songs bringing to light these misdeeds in our society, as has been for a number of years.

Another is the drunkenness amongst the youth and adults across the island. Yes, this can be attributed to lack of employment, but this situation contributes to a decadent society, and politicians – good, bad, or with nefarious intentions – use those situations to instigate mayhem in the country. We can all recall the recent kool-wash brigade that selectively choose particular business establishments to destroy, only to have the leader of the opposition use this incident to make a mockery of law and order, and he displayed the unmitigated gaul to request permission to have another protest march through Roseau. Instead of encouraging these idle/unemployed men to go to the AID Bank or Credit Union to secure a loan/financing that would enable them to create farms that would supply the abattoir with livestock, or to formulate legitimate enterprises that would generate jobs for them, the UWP encourages and incites anger, envy and discontent toward others who have worked hard to create their own businesses. And, by the way, these entrepreneurs employ family and friends of these same mischief-makers. So much for morals and family values.
As far as I know, all sin is sin, so on one hand, we cannot just condemn one type of sin and allow the others to fester continuously in our society. You’ve got to call a spade a spade.

We can use moral judgement to condemn others or ask governments to demit office, only when we truly have a society in unison with contriteness. A society where people are willing to atone for their sins and not point fingers at each other for wrong doings. These accusations, especially those of a political nature, do not produce the intended results because of the biasness: repeating and presenting the same accusation over and over seems to me like force-feeding (brainwashing) information. Most of us who have an ounce of moral fiber in our DNA can discern what is wrong and what is right when it comes to judging misdeeds of others. In retrospect, we should all be mindful of finger pointing as I mentioned above, and we should examine our own salvation, confess our sins and ask for forgiveness before accusing or condemning others. People who live a discipleship life are not judgmental; they think before they speak or act.

Another false accusation (subjective opinion) is the continuous calling the PM “a dictator”. Tell me, do dictators allow people to taunt them daily? If the answers is yes, then you a living in a true democracy. Kim Jung Un would have executed a bunch of people already. Yes, there is a high sense of frustration among a few disgruntled people who seem unable to garner any traction, because their agenda does not seem genuine enough to the majority of Dominicans.

Recently, a producer presented a documentary trying to decipher the cause of the PJ government downfall. From what I can deduce, PJ’s fall came at the hands of false accusations, treachery, innuendos, his naivety, and his stubbornness. This catapulted his downfall, brought on by a popular uprising fed from those same type of false accusations (subjective opinions). Here’s an example; President Trump of the USA insists that Prez Obama bugged Trump Tower – a tactic used to divert attention from his collusion with Russia. According to the heads of the US intelligence establishments, that accusation is a lie. Prez Obama could not have ordered any surveillance on an incoming or sitting Prez. without having to apply for such surveillance through legitimate agencies, (FISA Court),. That would have denied immediately. The American government does not spy on American citizens without LEGITIMATE proof of wrongdoing. Yet Prez Trump repeats this accusation daily, forcing the senators to call for an investigation into the allegations, when he knows fully well it is a blatant lie (subjective opinions). The only purpose accusations like that serve, is to create paranoia and distrust amongst people. A subjective opinion can produce the detrimental results.
