COPTHALL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
Copthall, St. George, Dominica
The Copthall Community Development Committee holds its first General Community Meeting on Saturday February 15, 2020, 5 pm at the residence of Peter and Samantha Letang.
The Development Committee was activated by community members on September 24, 2017; right after the passage of Hurricane Maria on September 18, 2017, to assist with relief distribution and provide reconstruction support to residents.
This meeting marks a new chapter in the operation of the Committee. It follows the community’s recent adoption of the Committee’s Constitution which among other things, organises the community into seven geographic areas and provides for the conduct of annual Area Meetings and an annual General Community Meeting.
The objective of the meeting is to install a new committee to serve for the next two years, by electing a Youth Representative and a Member at Large to join the seven (7) Area Representatives elected at Area Meetings prior to the General Meeting.
Dr. Irving McIntyre, the new Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau Valley Constituency will address the meeting along with a representative from the Local Government and Community Development Dept., and the Office for Disaster Management.
The meeting will provide a forum for community members to be updated on the work of the last committee and quite significantly, for them to discuss issues pertaining to social and economic conditions of the community with the Government officials.
Community residents and property owners, including the youth, are urged to attend this very important meeting and help shape the development agenda for the new committee for the next two years.
