Over the weekend, Elnarrah Emmanuel of Kingshill and Primrose David were formally presented to the communities which they will represent at the National Queen Show and their parliamentary representatives publicly endorsed them.

Speaking at Emmanuel’s launching at the Newtown Savannah on Saturday 4th January, Honorable Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau South Constituency, Chekira Lockhart-Hypolite, said Emmanuel is already a winner.

She addressed the other contestants, commending their brave decision to vie for such a prestigious title.

“I just want to tell the young ladies that you have made a very bold step to represent your community and to be an ambassador for Dominica,” she said. “When I see women take that bold step, I give them my full support and I want to commend all of you on such a bold move,” she remarked.

Lockhart- Hypolite further advised, ” You are going to be exposed to the social medium and plenty ofcriticism, but you know what you’re here to do, you know that you want to be an ambassador for your country so remain focused.”

Meantime, Honorable MP for the Mahaut Constituency, Rayburn Blackmoore, shared similar sentiments.

At the launching of Primrose David on Sunday 5th January at the Massacre Basketball Court, Blackmoore conveyed that despite his obvious preference, all the contestants are indeed winners.

“Very often we criticize the young ladies but it takes a lot of courage to present themselves and put themselves forward before massive crowds. I am particularly impressed by the quality and caliber of young persons we have this year- they are all beautiful and they are all very bright so we can expect a wonderful and a very impressive competition, especially the question and answer part,” he expressed.

The Village Launching of the other five contestants will resume next weekend.
