The Hon Prime Minister is once again shaming the tax-evading business community.
Several times in his tenure as Finance Minister and Prime Minister, Hon Skerrit has called out businesses who cheat the island of its due.
Following his swearing-in ceremony on Saturday, he spoke informally and discussed numerous issues of national interest.
Among them tax remittances. Hon Roosevelt Skerrit says the law will seek out the offenders.
He said, “If we want things, then those of us who owe the state…must render to the state. If you’re collecting VAT and income tax on behalf of the state, you must remit to the state.
“I want to say to those who are owing the state that…the state will want its money. It will use the provisions in the law to get its money due to it and in quick time because we have a lot of expenses and things to do and we have to get it going.”
