The traffic department of the Dominica police force is cancelling all motorcades for this coming weekend- the final Sunday before election day or any day for that matter.
Police Chief, Daniel Carbon announced the news on Tuesday after reviewing applications from both political parties to hold their own motorcades on that day.
”After having discussions with them, I have taken a decision not to grant permission to any of the parties to have their island-wide motorcade on Sunday 1st December 2019 or any day matter of fact. I have concerns over the security of the state. The general election campaign is highly politically charged. I have to take the safety of motorists, road users, pedestrians into consideration. There will also be two cruise ships in port on Sunday 1st December 2019 and one of these cruise ships is a mega ship!” he firmly stated.
Police Chief Carbon wants the public to be guided accordingly.
