The Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association (DHTA) is deeply concerned about the actions that transpired on the evening of Monday November 18th. We recognize that it is citizens’ right to protests but encourage persons to do so peacefully and within the rule of law.

During this heightened political environment we advocate for all parties involved, including the Government of Dominica, Law Enforcement, representatives of political organizations and the citizenry to dialogue on a way forward to solve the impasse which is clearly contributing to the current situation. In addition the DHTA appeals to both, political entities and private citizens to err on the side of reason and to refrain from taking actions that will further affect private sector livelihoods and Dominicans by extension.

The effects and impact of Maria are still being felt by the private sector, who took a brunt of the impact, and reason must be applied among all persons and entities involved.

As Dominicans prepare to exercise their franchise in the coming elections we pray for peace and violence free elections.
