Honorable Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit who is also Minister for Finance is encouraging new homeowners to secure their financial future.
He was speaking to the 32 new homeowners who were gifted houses in Hillsborough Gardens at no cost to them.
He went on to say that without the added expense of rent, they are now able to focus on saving as much as possible.
Hon Skerrit advised, “If you were paying rent of $500 monthly, I urge you to put $300 aside a month and build wealth. Do not find an expense for that $500 because you now have this home and are no longer paying rent. Start thinking about your children’s future and education.”
The Finance Minister urged disciplined money management and intelligent expenditure.
“If it‘s a not a need, then you can do without it. If a settee costs $4,000 and you can do with the one which costs $1,500, take the one for $1,500 and save the rest of the money,” he implored.
