Hon Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit believes the upcoming general elections will be the most crucial for Dominica.
Addressing supporters at a recent political rally, he said the island is poised for what he considers the next level in its development especially in the context of rebuilding since Hurricane Maria.
“We had to rethink our development priorities and set Dominica on a path of progress and development…and that is why the next elections are crucial,” he stated.
In relation to elections he said, “If there is a next government, they will dismantle everything and seek to start from scratch. Your housing projects will be ended, the free college which our children are enjoying could be suspended. Under the direction of their colonial masters, they will commercialise healthcare in Dominica, they will introduce new taxes, they will put profits before people.
“The Opposition wants to take us back to the days when our destinies were controlled by people overseas who had little or no regard for you, your dreams and your culture. Our history of struggle and sacrifice has brought us to this place and given us new dignity and we shall not retreat nor surrender,” he declared.
