The first phase of the China Dominica Friendship Hospital is officially opened for medical services.
On Friday 6th September 2019, phase one was formally handed over at a ceremony at the Lindo Park in Goodwill.
During the Ceremony, Minister for Health and Social Services, Hon Kenneth Darroux says the new facility serves as an example of the Government’s vision for healthcare.
“Two new aesthetically-pleasing new buildings to provide Accident and Emergency services and a radiology department complete with modern state-of-the-art imaging equipment to include CT Scans, digital ultrasound machines a high intensity focused ultrasound and an MRI machine,” Minister Darroux listed.
“This first phase will also include an enhanced dialysis department, modern lab services, numerous observation rooms and bays, resuscitation room, isolation units, an emergency operating theatre and an administration floor with offices and conference room facilities among others.”
“Even as we commission phase one, work has already started on phase two and we are already in an advanced stage of construction of the ophthalmologic wing of the new hospital- a section dedicated to eye-care complete with its own operating theatre and a 350-seat lecture room.”
