Construction of a new Marigot hospital is expected to commence before the end of this year.
This according to Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit who says that an agreement has been signed with Montreal Management Consultants Est (MMCE) for the construction of the new hospital.
Construction of a new hospital has been delayed for some time now after demolition of the previous building, which was infested with termites. Although the Government of Mexico promised a new hospital for the community the assistance has not materialized. The Prime Minister indicated that his government is proceeding new plans.
“We now have the detailed plans for the Marigot Hospital; one would have seen some of it being displayed in the public domain. We will be utilizing the route of the CBI to finance the Marigot Hospital similar to how we are building the residences, the homes in Dominica utilizing the CBI,” Hon Skerrit said.
The Prime Minister said the new plans will be shared with the community in the near the future.
“Government has always been committed to building the Marigot Hospital because Marigot Hospital not only serves Marigot it also serves the entire Marigot Health District going as far as Calibishie and into the Kalingo Territory and Bataca. We recognize the importance of it and we are proceeding with it, we believe that work will start before the end of this year,” he said.
