A committee of landowners who will make way for the construction of an international airport in Dominica has been formed.

The much talked about new international airport has been earmarked for the community of Wesley.

Prime Minister Honorable Roosevelt Skerrit and members of Cabinet along with the new candidate for the Wesley constituency, Fidel Grant, visited Wesley on Wednesday, 17th July, 2019.

At that visit, the Prime Minister Skerrit had the opportunity to meet with individuals who will give access to their lands to facilitate the massive project. He commended those who formed the self-appointed committee of property owners to assist in the process.

“I always appreciate and understand that the acquisition of people’s private property is a very sensitive matter, and this is why we’re being very careful with how we approach acquisition of properties across Dominica,” Hon Skerrit noted.

He said he was particularly pleased with the people’s enthusiasm towards the construction of the airport and went on to confirm that consultants for the project will visit from the United states next month (August) to discuss the commencement of the project.
