Lions Club Installs new Executive While Inducting six new Members Into the Pride

A Team comprising of experience and youth will lead the Lions Club of Dominica for the 2019/2010 Lionistic Year.  At the Club’s annual Installation of Officers Ceremony on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the Prevost Cinemall Ballroom, Lion Junior Toussaint was reinstalled as the President; Mandel Gregoire – Vice President; Rena Stevens – Secretary; Vernice Cuffy – Treasurer, 2nd Year Directors Louisiana Dubique and Suzanne Shillingford and 1st Year Director – Janice Hypolite and Natasha Jervier.


The Club will continue to provide service to the community this year under the theme “Service Driving Change”.  Members were encouraged by the Featured Speaker, Mrs. Yvonne Alexander, and President of the Dominica Cancer Society to find innovative ways of serving their community.  In her quest to preparing for her presentation, she informed the Club that she educated herself about the Lions Movement and what it entails and expressed her pleasure in getting to know all that the Club had been involved in, in their 51 years of service on the island.  She encouraged them to continue serving the less fortunate as there was still much that could be done and is required to be done in alleviating the plight of these persons, especially those we refer to as the “street people”.


The club will attempt to focus as much as possible on those global causes as identified by Lions Clubs International, namely Diabetes, Hunger, Vision, Environment, Childhood Cancer, as part of its activities for the 2019/2020 year.


Overall leadership of the Club include, Dr. Jung-Yul Choi of Busan, PMJF, Republic of Korea, as 102nd President of Lions Clubs International :  “We serve through Diversity”; Lion Rudolph E. Augustin, MJF, Council Chairperson Multiple District 60 and Lion Denise Forrest, PMJF, District Government 60B: “Service without Boundaries, Touching Lives Transforming Communities”
