In an effort to strengthen its branches throughout the island and to enhance the capacity of communities to prepare and respond to emergencies, the Dominica Red Cross (DRC) Society has launched its second branch office.
Situated in the community of Grand fond, the facility unveiled on June 20, 2019 intends to benefit a greater cross-section of that constituency, Director of the Disasters Management Committee, Karen Riviere Cuffy has stated.
“The branch office will strengthen the capacity of the society to support the communities it serves to better prepare and respond to emergencies and disasters. This office will serve Grand Fond, Morne Jaune, Riviere Cyrique and Rosealie, while providing a base for Red Cross volunteers to operate.”
She went on to highlight that the facility will also be utilized for trainings, branch meetings and fund raising activities.
The first branch office was unveiled in the community of Good Hope late last month.
