Minister for Trade, Energy and Employment, Honorable Ian Douglas

Commenting on the stewardship of the Dominica Labour party (DLP), Minister for Trade, Energy and Employment Hon. Ian Douglas has said worldwide countries are looking at the DLP administration as an illustration on how to properly govern their country.

Douglas made these remarks at the launching of DLP candidate for the Wesley constituency Fidel Grant on June 16, 2019.

“Every single country is looking towards Dr. the Honorable Roosevelt Skerrit and the Dominica Labour party for example as to how they should run a country properly,” he stated to the electorates gathered.

This comments followed the Portsmouth MP statement that thanks to the investment made by the ruling party into the Citizenship By Investment Programme (CIP), several leading projects are in motion.

“It’s this Dominica labour party who took the scraps of what workers left and made a success of the economic citizen programme now called citizenship by investment programme. Now we have more than five flagship hotels coming up under the citizenship by investment programme. We have more than six hundred new hotel rooms being built in Dominica today. Nowhere else in the Caribbean is that happening right now.”

According to Douglas, such work is envied in other parts of the region.

“I heard a politician from another country criticizing his government asking them to look at Dominica government and what Roosevelt Skerrit has been doing with the citizenship by investment programme…that is what we are doing, look at the brand new housing programmes going on around the country, that is the envy of the entire region, when you step into those apartment, you think you are in a hotel somewhere.”

He went on to note that such success could only be achieved by the DLP administration.
