The Cultural Division will this week be launching the 3rd edition of a book of Old Dominican photos. This edition features landscapes, carnival and creole costumes, personalities, village feasts and other community events.
It also has a special section featuring the photographs of the legendary Masterville Joseph, whose photographs are very distinctive and have become iconic.
In addition the book comprises colour representations of the paintings of the renowned 18th century artist Agostino Brunias who resided in Dominica for several years and who was able to capture many outstanding Dominican scenes of that time in his works.
The Book Launch of the book Old Dominican Photographs – Volume 3” will take place at the Prevo Cinemall on Wednesday June 12th from 10am and the public is invited.
On that same day, the Cultural Division will stage an Open House downstairs Government Headquarters from 9am to 4pm. The Open House will feature the many publications, music albums and video documentaries of the Division – some of which will be on sale.
The general public will also have the opportunity to register for Adult and Children’s Summer courses offered by the Division and also courses for 2019/2020 being offered by the Dominica Institute for the Arts based at the Old Mill Cultural Centre and recommencing in September this year.
