Sixty – Six families in the Castle Bruce constituency are soon to be housed.
That is according to Parliamentary representative for the Castle Bruce constituency and Minister in Housing, Johnson Drigo.
Post Hurricane Maria, a number of Castlebruce families are housed at the Castle Bruce Youth Center. Drigo announced that that the one to three bedroom apartments will be handed over to these families by June.
“The monster Maria left a number of residents homeless. Everybody in the village who had a wooden house lost their entire home. And so we have had a challenge in housing our residents, in fact, even as we speak, we have a few residents at the youth center and the areas where they live is too dangerous to build houses for them, so we look forward to the opening of the apartments in June,” he expressed.
The apartments were built with resilience in mind and were designed to withstand hurricane-force winds.
“Sixty six families will enter this modern apartment built to withstand a category five hurricane,” he said
Drigo further expressed his excitement regarding this housing project, particularly after the destruction of Hurricane Maria in September of 2017.
“Very soon all sixty- six families will receive their letters assigning them to one, two and three bedroom apartments.”
