DLP Candidate for the Castle Bruce Constituency, Octavia “Teacher Bonnie” Alfred

The new Dominica Labour Party Candidate for the Castle Bruce constituency, Octavia “Teacher Bonnie” Alfred  was officially launched over the weekend and has expressed her confidence in winning that seat in the upcoming general elections.

Officially announcing her candidacy at the Castle Bruce playing field on Sunday 19th May 2019, Alfred conveyed that she sees herself as the best candidate to represent her constituency and that she is determined to continue development.

” I am going to win this election with you and for you, Castle Bruce. I am going to win because of my plans, the labour party plans for the community. I am going to win because the Dominica Labour Party is a superior organization. Labour has proven that we can handle any crisis… I am going to win because our leader, Roosevelt Skerrit has the capacity to lead. I am going to win because you who gave me to the Dominica Labour Party,  you trust me and you know me because I have always been there with you. I am going to win because over the years we have worked together and gotten exceptional results. I am going to win because I am the best person to lead Castle Bruce at this time,” she declared.

The new candidate took time to highlight several areas of development within the communities in the Castle Bruce constituency, such as the reconstruction of the Castle Bruce primary School and the current housing development project.

“Hurricane Maria diverted all our resources to ensuring that our people received housing and our children were back at school. Therefore we had to put on hold many of our projects, such as the landing site for the young fishers at Castle Bruce and the dredging of the river for river tubing activities just to name two,” Alfred explains.

Teacher Bonnie replaces Honorable Johnson Drigo who served two terms as the representative for the Castle Bruce constituency.

Drigo also endorsed the new candidate and affirmed his commitment to working with her.
