Resilient apartments built for Petite Savanne Residents

Tropical Storm Erika victims of Petite Savanne have been granted comfortable accommodation by the Government of Dominica. On Mar. 26, 2019, the Prime Minister, Honorable Roosevelt Skerrit presented the residents with 52 new homes in the community of Bellevue Chopin at a Handing Over Ceremony.

Apart from the Petite Savanne Resettlement project, Skerrit announced at the ceremony that in the next few weeks, an additional 500 units will be built in Dominica. He further informed the residents that the homes are built with resilience in mind.

“We are Building these homes in a sturdy way to ensure that when or if the storm comes, we’ll be in a better position to withstand it.”

“All of the electrical lines are under ground; all of the telephone lines are under ground. You are not seeing any poles. All of it is under ground, creating a resilient community. A community that can withstand the test of times and that’s what we said we were going to do”

The Prime Minister extended gratitude to the residents of Petite Savanne for being patient with the Petite Savanne Resettlement project.
