Dominica Nurses Association protest assembly at Government Headquarters Building

The Dominica Nurses Association has embarked on a protest action with a mandate to improve the nursing environment.

On Mar. 26, 2019, the association gathered at the Government headquarters building, demanding to meet with the Minister of health and due to no avail, Head of the DNA, Rosie Felix confirmed with DA Vibes that the association will be gathering at the Goodwill round-about near the Princess Margaret Hospital on Mar. 26, 2019.

According to an open letter from the Dominica Nurses association, the nurses are dissatisfied with their working conditions and considers it a strain.

“For some years now the nursing service has been under extreme and increasing strain to deliver adequate and quality health care services to the people on Dominica. This is due to less than positive practice environments. Unfortunately, Tropical Storm Erica and Hurricane Maria caused, aggravated and added to the strains and while we were hopeful that your ministry would address them in reasonable time you have proved us wrong.
