Soufriere/Scottshead council community center officially handed over

The Soufriere/Scottshead constituency are the beneficiaries of a donation made by the First Caribbean International Bank (CIBC).

An official handing over ceremony was held in the Soufriere Community Center on Mar. 7, 2019 as a representation of the completed community center project.

The CIBC contributed over $95, 000 in efforts to rehabilitate the Soufriere Council Community Center post hurricane Maria through the First Caribbean Comtrust Foundation.

This rehabilitation process began in November 2018 and lasted approximately one month and a half. However, the building was not officially handed over to the council by the CIBC until yesterday.

The Parliamentary Representative for the Soufriere/Scottshead constituency, Hon Denise Charles, Minister for Climate Resilience Hon Joseph Issac CIBC Country Head Stephen Lander, Soufriere Village Council Chairman Weefeys Jules, council members and villagers were in attendance of this event.

Tokens of appreciation were presented to the CIBC country head and the Parliamentary Representative by the Village Council. A plaque was also presented to the village council by the CIBC to be imbedded   on the building.

According to CIBC Country Head, Stephen Lander the First Caribbean Bank was eager to support the reconstruction of this community center seeing that it was devastated by Hurricane Maria in 2017.
