Special Olympics Dominica(SO) is expected to compete at the World Games in Ahbu Dhabi on March 22nd 2019 where 7,500 athletes will gather from among 170 nations to participate in 24 Olympic type sport. This event is described as the world’s greatest humanitarian activity.
Special Olympics Dominica Team consists of five officials; The coach, Argenette Lucien, Head of Delegation; Ainsworth Irish, Assistant head of delegation; Tyrella Alexander, dedicated medical personnel; Dr. Martin Christmas and seven athletes

At a special conference on Tuesday 19th February 2019, Digicel presented a cheque of US$20,000.00 to S.O. The cheque was presented by Digicel CEO, Nikima Royer -Jno.Baptiste and Marketing executive, Tyrella Alexander.
Head of Special Olympics Dominica, Ainsworth Irish accepted the contribution on behalf of the delegation. Miss Tyrella Alexander is also the Assistant head of Special Olympics Dominica.
Irish expressed his gratitude to Digicel for one of their several large contributions.
” We have been working tirelessly toward the World games and our athletes are very excited. They have the disability but it does not inhibit their ability to do things and experience joy and show courage and so I cannot find words to say how grateful I am to Digicel the bigger better network, for this contribution”
Mr. Irish also mentioned that the regardless of the athletes being challenged, the training are very intense and coaches have been on board and doing their best to ensure that there will be a good representation for Dominica.
Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 will take place between March 7th and 22nd 2019 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE’S Amed Forces.
