Hurricanes avoided an eruption of Volcanoes

Leeward Islands Hurricanes defeated the Wind Ward Islands Volcanoes by 12 runs in round 7 of the West Indies Regional Championship four day match at the Windsor Park Stadium.

Set 241 for victory the Volcanoes were seemingly cruising to victory at 222/5 at tea with Sunil Ambris 96 not out and Ray Jordan 19 not out.

After tea the Volcanoes collapsed dramatically to be dismissed for 228. Leeward Hurricanes players, Rakeem Cornwall vied 5/79 and Quinton Boatswain with ¾ wrecked the lower order of the Volcanoes. Ambris remained not out at 102, Kavem Hodge 64. Ambris and Hodge had a partnership of 132 runs for the 3rd wicket; Ambris and Jordan added 70 for the 6th wicket. When Jordan was out in the 57th over after tea, things fell apart for the volcanoes.

The overall scores of the game is Hurricanes with 271 and 199 and Windward with 230 and 228.

From Thursday, February 21 to Sunday, February 24 round 8 of the championship will be held at the Arnos vale sports complex, St. Vincent where the Volcanoes will be playing against the Pride.
