In an interview with Dominica Vibes Community Engagement Officer at the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Maxine Alleyne Esprit said Ham Radio Training will be offered to interested persons in Dominica.
Mrs. Esprit said the Ham Radio training will assist people with communication after a disaster.
“What we saw after Hurricane Maria when all the traditional phone lines were down, Ham Radios were an essential way of communicating with the emergency services such as: the police; firemen; hospital and; the outside world.”
Mrs. Esprit said the training will help to improve the capacity across Dominica and the outside world to be able to communicate in the event of a disaster.
The training will begin on Wednesday 30th January, 2019 at the St. Mary’s Academy.
