Public advised to be vigilant in light of recent bush fire

Public Relations Officer of the Fire and Ambulance Services Wayne Letang has confirmed that a bush fire occurred in Portsmouth on Wednesday 23rd January, 2019.

“The Fire Station responded to a call at 7: 42 pm of a fire in the Chance area in Portsmouth. The blaze involved an unoccupied portion of land covered with mulch and shrubs located above the Chance Development,” Letang stated.

Mr. Letang said the fire was brought under control by the officers.

“No lives were lost and there was minimal damage to infrastructure, “Mr. Letang noted.

Mr. Letang said the public should be vigilant of bush fires and take steps to clear their surrounding from excessive bush.

‘’We wish to advise persons to be vigilant during the dry season and to trim all unwanted bush and trees in their surroundings,”Mr. Letang said.

Mr. Letang said Dominica Fire and Ambulance Services is committed to the protection of life and property of the citizens of Dominica
