Minister for Education says a number of schools are being reconstructed

In a ceremony to officially hand over the Morne prosper Primary School on Thursday 10th January 2019 Minister for Education and Human Resource Development Honorable Petter Saint Jean says that a number of schools in Dominica are being reconstructed.

Sixty-two schools in Dominica were severely damaged as a consequent of the passage of Hurricane Maria. Therefore there were renovations and in some cases reconstruction needed.

A few schools have returned to normal functioning last week following the hurricane including the Trafalgar, Bells and Warner primary schools.

Construction works are being undertaken in Mahaut, Grandbay, Delices and Morne Jaune Primary school.

Several measures were taken to encourage students and teachers to implement safety measures prior to Hurricane Maria also. In addition, ways to incorporate disaster preparedness in the syllabus for everyday teaching are being planned currently.
