Lifless body recovered from sea

The lifeless body of a female was fished out from the sea near Canefield over the weekend.

The body was recovered from the sea on Saturday 5th January, 2019 at 10: 50 am.

According to a report from Police Public Relations Officer Simon Edwards the body was identified by a  family member as Vernice Nelson. She was 51 years and lived in Portsmouth.

Inspector Edwards said the body was transported to the Princess Margaret Hospital where it was examined by a doctor and officially pronounced dead.

The body was then transported to Lynhurst Funeral Home.

A postmortem will be conducted.
