Chairman of the Reparations Committee Dr. Damien Dublin is of the view that the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) represents the United Workers Party (UWP).

Dublin said he does not believe, the CCM is an independent body.

The CCM held a protest on Saturday 15th December, 2018 to call for electoral reform in Dominica. The protest ended with police using tears gas to disperse the crowd when they refused to comply.

“I have been following closely the public manifestations and statements of the Concerned Citizens Movement and I have to conclude that this is just a front for the United Workers Party (UWP),” Dublin stated.

Dublin said the only concern the CCM has is about electoral reform and their message is quite similar as the UWP.

Mr. Dublin said there are other important matters of great concern to Dominicans.

“They are not concerned about the people whose houses were damaged by Hurricane Maria, [living] conditions of people, the economic situation, their health and social issues, which are just as  important for the development of a country, ” Dublin said.

Dublin said he believes that protest is necessary and protest has been allowed in Dominica and a minority group cannot and should not impose their views on the people.
