Fire damages house in Pointe Michel

A fire occurred yesterday in the community of Pointe Michel in Siboulie area damaging one concrete residential building.

Station Officer at the Dominica Fire and Ambulance Service Wayne Letang said the Roseau Fire Station responded to a fire in Pointe Michel, approximately 5 p.m.  on Tuesday 4th December, 2018.

Mr. Letang said the building was unoccupied at the time of the incident and there was no report of injury.

He stated that the building was not completely damaged, as the blaze was controlled by the fire officers, leaving the top of the building burnt.

“The upper floor was affected, there was destruction of the walls and items in the house,” Mr. Letang noted.

Mr. Letang said there is no estimate as yet to damage caused by the fire, as investigations continue into the incident.
