Communities report unscheduled interruptions in water supply after days of heavy rainfall

A number of communities on the island are experiencing unscheduled interruptions to their water supply.

The interruptions is as a result of heavy rainfall across the island over the past few days.

Public Relations of the Dominica Water and Sewage Company (DOWASCO) Edward Registe said work is ongoing to restore the water, to the communities affected by the unscheduled water interruptions.

Areas that have been affected by the unscheduled water interruptions include Penville, Bense, Anse Di Mai, Calibishie, Bataca, Antrizzle, Morne Jaune, Grand Fond, Dublanc, Bioche, Morne Ratchete and Grand Savanne.

Mr. Registe said some communities which water supply were interrupted, as a result of the inclement weather, have been restored.

These communities where water have been interrupted and restored include Picard, Giraudel, Eggleston, Rigate and Beau Bois.

Mr. Edward said if it becomes necessary, the use of water trucks will be employed, to temporary supply water to affected residents, as work toward restoration of water supply to communities continues.
