Head of Extension in the Division of Agriculture Felix Leslie has stated that coffee has played a significant role in the agricultural sector in Dominica.
Mr. Leslie made that statement while addressing a coffee consultation that was held to discuss issues on Coffee production in Dominica.
“Today we are moving forward. We have done some work in the coffee industry and what have done, is knowledge that can be developed further,” Mr. Felix stated.
Mr. Leslie says consultations are important, as the agricultural sector seeks to advance the local coffee industry on the island.
He went on to say a number of experts came from overseas previously, through IICA to share information on coffee production.
“Farmers and other key holders in the Agricultural Sector, we have a key and fundamental role to play in terms of bringing knowledge together, to identify what should be done to improve the sector,” Leslie added.
The Coffee Consultation was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries and held at the Prevost Cinemall on Monday.
