Minimum damage has been reported by farmers as a result of rainfall over the island in the last few days.
That’s according to Communications Officer in the Ministry of Agriculture, Petra Grell Shillingford.
In an interview with DA Vibes News on Tuesday November 13, Mrs. Grell Shillingford says there have been reports of landslide and flooding of feeder roads on farms.
“We have been experiencing torrential rains and that has caused a lot of flooding and water damage on farms. From the Agriculture Ministry’s stand point we are advising farmers to be very careful,” Mrs. Grell Shillingford stated.
Mrs. Shillingford noted that extension officers have been visiting the farms across the island.
Mrs. Grell Shillinford said after an assessment is done, an estimate will be given of the damage that occurred on the farms due to heavy rain fall across the island.
