Five young ladies are set to compete in the 2019 Miss Dominica Carnival Queen Show next year.
The show is scheduled to for March 1st 2019 after a one year hiatus due to Hurricane Maria last year.
The five contestants were introduced on Wednesday, during the soft launch of the 2019 Carnival celebrations at the NAO conference room.
The contestants are 19 year old Aaliyah Martin of Campbell, 21 year old Anick Williams of Goodwill, 20 year old Brittney Felix of St. Joseph, 21 year old Chrisline Tavernier of Grand Bay and 20 year old Marisol John of Sultan.
Head of the Queen Show Committee Romualda Hyacinth stated during the conference that the committee has transformed the pageant from a beauty competition to a platform aimed at strengthening young women.
“This pageant does not only focus on the physical beauty, but on the grooming of young women from different communities to be great ambassadors for Dominica,” Hyacinth stated.
Hyacinth noted that before the pageant, contestants are required to go through a training program, which assists them in becoming ambassadors of Dominica.
She noted that the committee creates a robust preparation system which includes training of the ladies, and behavioral parameters for teams and contestants to follow.
She added this preparation system has enabled Dominican contestants to always emerge in the top three winners in regional pageants.
“The contestants journey to the throne provides each contestants the opportunity to learn, grow and blossom into beautiful ambassadors,” Hyacinth
