Mr. Skerrit said it will cost about Sixty Million Dollars to acquire the land in Wesley area.
“I have given the commitment to land owners once we settle on the price today, within forty eight hours you will get a cheque, because we need to ensure the people we purchase the land from will pay them in quick time as we have the funds in the bank,” Mr. Skerrit stated.
Mr. Skerrit noted that a number of detailed Geotechnical studies have been conducted prior to the construction of the international airport.
Mr. Skerrit said the studies was done to get information on soil type, design, structural integrity and other necessary information and advice before constructing the international airport.
A contract was signed for over Two Million Dollars (US) with an American firm to carry out the studies.
