Police Public Relations Officer Inspector Simon Edwards has said the police are carrying out investigations into the death of the one year old girl Faith-Ann Registe, who died in the fatal house fire at Kingshill last week Wednesday.
The incident occurred at a residence in Lower Morne Bruce, Kingshill around 7:11 a.m.
According to Inspector Edwards, “the the twenty three year old mother lived in a single room dwelling house with her two children the other being a two year old male. At the time of the fire the mother was not at home and the toddler was able to walk away from the burning building with no injuries, but the entire house was engulfed in flames trapping the deceased.”
He said, “On the mother’s return she collapsed on seeing the tragedy and was taken away from the scene.
Members of the community and the Fire and Ambulance extinguished the fire. The charred body of the deceased was seen in the eastern section of the building on her back. The body was transported to the Roseau Health Center by members of the Lyndhurst Funeral Home, it was identified by a family member, pronounced dead by a medical doctor and transported to the Lyndhurst Funeral Home. The mother of the deceased child was attended to at the Princess Margaret Hospital and was discharged.”
A post mortem examination will be conducted as investigations continue into the incident.
