Minister for Health and Social Services, Dr Kenneth Darroux has said that the island’s main hospital, the Princess Margaret Hospital is ready for Tropical Storm Isaac.
“We’ve done all we could possibly do at PMH under the circumstances to ensure that we have a necessary supply of pharmaceuticals, drugs and oxygen and all the necessary human resources like the staff, doctors etc. are in place.” Said Mr. Darroux.
Minister Darroux also said many nurses who were on leave may be coming back to work this week to help share the workload for this impending weather system.
He also made mention of the improvements in communication which includes equipping the various health districts with satellite phones.
“One of the improvements we’ve seen this year in the Ministry of Health is the issue of the improvement in communication. John Christian has seen to it on his own “single handily” that the district staff and other key heads of department are equipped with Hand Held Radios. They have also been trained.
