When the National Emergency Planning Organisation (NEPO) meets on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., certain decisions will be taken ahead of the passage of hurricane Isaac.
Deputy Prime Minister Reginald Austrie said some of these decisions could include the suspension of school and shortening of the working day.
Hurricane Isaac is forecasted to pass over or near Dominica on Wednesday or Thursday as a category 1 hurricane.
“This will be communicated to you through the local media by the disaster preparedness office. If and when that information is provided I am calling on all residents to remain indoors as much as possible and anyone found uselessly loitering the streets will be dealt with accordingly,” he said.
Essential workers inclusive of health professionals, fire and police officers, security personnel, disaster officials among others will still be required to continue working he said adding, “However we ask you to do so cautiously being cognizant of the dangers out there”.
He encouraged all persons to not take any “undue risk” advising them that their personal safety, security and well-being is paramount.
