Sharon Banfield-Bovell, Regional Human Resources Development Consultant at the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) has said the most important asset to a country’s tourism asset is the people.
She was speaking during the certificate ceremony for the Delivering Quality Service Training for taxi operators which she facilitated at the Prevo Cinemall on Thursday 19 July 2018.
“On behalf of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation, it has been a pleasure working with the DDA and the government of Dominica in being able to offer one of the many human resource development training programs that we have to offer,” Banfield-Bovell said.
The CTO she said continues to train persons in their various member countries as they see people as the most important asset.
“The beaches don’t talk, the pools can’t interact with you,” she said continuing, “Those tangible things are important but at the end of the day you are the ones who make those things come alive, you are the ones who make those things special, you are the ones who help to deliver the experience as our visitors engage with the same resources that we have to offer.”
The training which is one of the CTO’s human resource development training programs was organized by the Discover Dominica Authority and took part over a four day period.
Vendors and hair braiders participated in the training during the first two days while taxi operators took part during the last two days.
