Minister for Tourism and Culture, Senator Robert Tonge has reiterated the importance of volun-tourism and the various opportunities that it offers the tourism sector.
Minister Tonge was addressing a certificate ceremony on Wednesday 27 June 2018 at the Prevo Cinemall which ended a three day training workshop aimed at enhancing tour packages for volun-tourism.
Tonge told the twenty- five participants that post Hurricane Maria tourism stakeholders must “look at the positives”, and opportunities.
“I see volun-tourism as a tremendous opportunity, and opportunity favors the prepared,” Senator Tonge stated.
Thus he noted that their participation in the workshop is evidence that they have seen the opportunity and have been armed with the information to enhance their tourism offerings.
“So what you really have to do is to put that enticing, exciting package that’s gonna resonate with persons who want to come to the country to help. And nowadays there are many conscious persons who want to find a way of giving back. And this is the perfect opportunity to give back,” Senator Tonge said.
