Former chairman of the Soufriere, Scotts Head, Gallion Village Council, Heston Charles has pledged his support to the new council which recently took office.
A new council was voted into office on May 9, 2018 with Conrad Caesar, a councilor for about eighteen years, emerging as Chairman.
“As the past chairperson I really want to send a very strong message to the councilors because post Maria, from my assessment, there is a lot of work to do to rebuild and to help bring back the Soufriere, Scotts Head, Gallion community”.
Charles said for the new council it is not just “another day in the office” as it would require councilors to put in many hours when they meet due to all what needs to be discussed.
He also advised them to embrace the assistance presently being given to village council by the government.
Road development works, housing programs and employment for persons in the community through the National Employment Program is conducted via the village councils he explained.
“So council now has a lot of administration to do and so it takes a good team, it takes visionaries to really meet those requirements and what is to be done.”
