Work has begun on the roads and bridges in the Castle Bruce constituency, Parliamentary Representative for the area Johnson Drigo has confirmed.
Mr Drigo, who is also a Minister in the Ministry of Housing and Lands, was addressing the launch of the housing development for the east on Wednesday 6 June 2018. He said there is quite a bit of work going on in his constituency.
“I’m really happy with the response to the DVRP so the build back better resilience building is already in action following Maria.”
Mr. Drigo said work includes shelving and retaining walls that are being built to Castle Bruce and will continue on to Petite Soufriere.
Meanwhile, the San Sauveur Bridge will be replaced while work is being done on the Calice Bridge.
“Most of the bridges will either be replaced or they will be enlarged to allow for two way traffic,” Mr. Drigo said.
Plans for the roads include widening them by 6 feet on each side and addressing what he referred to as “elephant cracks”.
