The Kelver Darroux Basketball League continue

It was a basketball filled weekend as games continued in the ongoing Kelver Darroux Basketball League in St. Joseph.

The weekend kicked off with a double header on Friday night with Dr. Mac Prowlers facing FLOW X-Men in the first match. It was a close game with the Flow X-Men holding the lead at halftime. However, the Prowlers bounced back in the second half to take an eleven point victory ending the game with sixty-four points to X-Men fifty-three.

Top scorers for the Prowlers were Julian Isle Jr and Craig St. Rose with fifteen and fourteen points respectively. For the X-Men, it was Simon Joseph who scored ten points and Maxwell Birmingham with nine.

In the night’s second game, it was the Kelver Darroux Hurricanes who blew past the Police Sports Club with a thirty-seven point victory. Hurricanes scored seventy-three, to the Police thirty-six, with Kessler Edwards scoring nineteen, Jonathan Mills eighteen, and Jerry Wright chipping in with eleven for the Hurricanes.

Action continued on Saturday, with a tense one point victory in the matchup between the Elijah Law Chambers Thundererz and the La Plaine Dark Knights. Thunderez took the win in the last few seconds of the game, scoring a two pointer to grab the lead, ending the match with sixty-one points to the Knights hard fought sixty points.

Top scorers for Thundererz included Hakim Dangleben with twenty-nine points, and Dwight Timothy with eleven. Ridge Blaize with twenty-five points, and Cameron Corbette with eleven were the top scorers for the Dark Knights.

In game two of Saturday, Shanks Juggernauts fought hard against ball-o-rama champions, the D-Tread Blazers, but were unable to secure the win as Blazers took a twenty point victory.

At half time, the Juggernauts only trailed by one point to Blazers thirty two, but lost their way at the start of the third quarter only scoring a measly seven points. They pushed back in the final quarter, but with the efforts of Blazers’ Thomas Felix with twenty points, Lester Langlais and Nathan Sebastien twelve points each, the Blazers were able to hang on for the win. Delton Charles with twelve, and Dean Vidal and Alvin Harry with eight each were the top scorers for the Juggernauts.

In Sunday’s lone game Kairi FM Ole Skool faced off with Team Ice Cream in an exciting matchup. With scores continuously tied, and leads exchanging hands numerous times during the game, the game was set for a tense finish.

However it was team Ice-Cream who took the win with a three point victory margin, scoring sixty-six points to Ole Skool’s sixty-three.

Levi Baron topped the score board with twenty three points for Ole Skool, while Garvin Joseph scored twenty two for Team Ice Cream.

League games will continue this Wednesday, 30 May 2018 at the St. Joseph hardcourt.
