The Lupus Foundation of Dominica, in collaboration with the Junior Chamber International (JCI) will be hosting a ‘Walk for Lupus’, as part of Lupus Awareness Month.
The walk will be hosted on Saturday 12 May 2018 from 4PM but there will be face painting from 2PM.
“We will be proceeding north around Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard, onto Kennedy Avenue, and continue in an easterly direction along Kennedy Avenue,” Vice President of the Lupus Foundation of Dominica, Shoyea-Gaye Grant Massicotte told Dominica Vibes.
“We then proceed to Great George Street and onto the New West Bridge in a northerly fashion, from the West Bridge into Pottersville and until Goodwill Road. From Goodwill Road, we will proceed in a southerly fashion onto the Riverside Apartment Street, around the roundabout and unto Hillsborough Street continue westward on Hillsborough Street and onto Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard, back to where the Cruise Ship usually is,” Massicotte added.
The Foundation is encouraging members of the public to support the walk and show solidarity with those who are affected by the disease.
“So it is a very short walk, and it’s done to facilitate all the people with Lupus walking because we cannot walk very long in the sun, so it’s a short walk,” Massicotte stated.
“So, I’m inviting everybody to come out and walk with us, your support will be very much appreciated, and this will really help us in in our awareness efforts, so come out and support and show that you care about somebody with lupus,” Massicotte added.
