Police investigations have commenced into an accident which occurred along the Antrim Highway leaving one bus driver dead and three passengers tending minor injuries.
In a media report released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Simon Edwards stated that the accident happened at approximately 7 am, taking the life of the driver, Johnny Stoute a resident of Petite Soufriere.
“The police are investigating a fatal road traffic collision with occurred on Monday 9th April 2018 about 7Am on the Antrim Valley Public Road which claimed the life of Johnny Stoute Male 37 years of Petit Soufriere. According to the information received from passengers on he bus, the deceased Johnny Stoute was driving a Toyota Hiace Bus registration number HF033 in an easterly to westerly direction when he lost control of the bus which collided with a parapet on the road and overturned.”
Edwards noted that Stoute was then transported to the Accident and Emergency department of the Princess Margaret Hospital where he was officially pronounced dead.
“At the time of the accident there were 3 passengers on the bus who suffered minor injuries. They were transported to the Accident and Emergency Department of the Princess Margaret Hospital where they were treated and discharged. Johnny Stoute was also transported to the accident and emergency department where he was officially pronounced dead by a medical doctor. The body was then transported to the Lyndhurst Funeral Home. Investigations continue.”
