The Dominica Football Association (DFA) will be assisting in the rehabilitation of various playing fields around the island which were affected by Hurricane Maria’s passage last September.
President of the DFA, Glen Ettiene speaking in an interview with Dominica Vibes on Friday 12 January 2018, explained that the association had put in a bid for money to assist the restoration of playing fields following Tropical Storm Erika. These included playing fields at Pointe Michel, Dublanc and the Geneva.
“FIFA had approved of this project and we received these monies recently so we are going to do some work with these monies on the various playing fields,” Ettiene stated.
He added that the Sports Division will have to hold discussions with the government in relation to the rehabilitation of playing fields as they have their own programmes.
“I know that the government has their own program also, so it is something that we have to discuss because all the playing fields belong to the government. But it is under the sports division so we have to work with them, with whatever funds that we have, for the playing fields in that light,” said Ettiene.
