The Justice Committee is currently looking into implementing new initiatives and plans at the Dominica State Prison.
Member of the visiting Justice Committee and Welfare Consultant, Martin Anthony who was speaking at the Aggression Replacement Training Certificate ceremony in December 2017, said the committee will be looking to put plans in place to address a number of issues at the prison.
“So, for example, you the participants have gone through some level o0f training and we are hoping that the staff here will also undergo some training. A program will be put in place with intensive training for the staff of this institution because all of us need to be trained to do better things wherever we are,” Anthony explained.
One such area he said is the enhancement of the skills of the prison’s staff.
“We hope to utilize the members of staff who are trained in a big way this new year so that they can assist in enhancing the skill of the staff here at the prison… it is our hope that that those who have been recommended for further training will come back and be able to train many, many others in the country to manage and control their anger,” Anthony stated.
