Minister for Social Services, Family and Gender Affairs, Lady Catherine Daniel has called on beneficiaries of the Emergency Cash Transfer Program to use the grants wisely.
Daniel who was speaking at the daily press briefing on Monday 4 December 2017 stated that the money is being given based on the level of need of each family.
“This program that we are launching will be a welcoming gesture for many many people. What I would like to implore on these people, that they have been identified not to meet their wants but to meet their needs and this money that they are going to receive they should use it wisely. It’s not a lifetime assistance, so appreciate the period that these organizations are going to help us,” Daniel stated.
Daniel went on to note that the beneficiaries should be thankful and appreciative of the timely gesture.
“Our Prime Minister has spared no effort in trying to seek assistance in any sector of the country, trying to seek some level of comfort for us post Maria. So let us take advantage of it. Let us be thankful, let us be appreciative of it. Let us be appreciative of the efforts of these agencies. They have left their homes to help us and we have to be thankful. We implore on our recipients to use the grants wisely. It’s not a shopping spree, so please use it wisely,” Daniel added.
