Roseau, Dominica – September 11th, 2017 – The Dominica Association of Industry & Commerce (DAIC) and the Dominica Red Cross (DRC) signed an MOU to document the relationship between both organizations. This MOU provides a broad framework for cooperation between the two organizations when providing emergency preparedness and response services.

The Dominica Red Cross was recognized by the Government of Dominica as an independent National Society in 1983 and works auxiliary to the national authorities to prevent, prepare and respond to emergencies. It provides services to those in need making no discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class, sex, sexual orientation or political opinions.

The DAIC plays a leading role in influencing the business, economic and social environment of Dominica to facilitate the growth and development of the private sector through effective representation of core interests.

The DRC and the DAIC desire to expand their mutually-beneficial relationship to enhance community resilience through non-disaster related activities, as well as to coordinate disaster planning and response activities.

This partnership has already facilitated a shipment of relief supplies to Anguilla with the patronage of DAIC Member Digicel Dominica. DAIC recognizes Members – Digicel Corporation, Springfield Trading Ltd., Jolly’s Pharmacy Ltd, H.H.V. Whitchurch & Co. Ltd, and Fine Foods Inc., who respectively initiated, responded quickly and contributed to the DAIC/DRC Partnership.
