Eight bills will be introduced when the Third Meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament under the Commonwealth of Dominica Constitution convenes at the House of Assembly on Tuesday 23 May 2017 from 10AM.
According to the Order Paper, signed by Clerk of the House of Assembly, Daniel James, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit will present supplementary appropriation for the financial year ending July 2016 to April 2017.
Mr Skerrit will ask Parliament to approve Supplementary Estimates of Expenditure amounting to one hundred and fifty-four million, six hundred and ninety-four thousand, seven hundred dollars and ninety-eight cents (EC$154, 694, 700.98).
The Prime Minister will also present a report on the Integrity Commission of the Commonwealth of Dominica for the year ended August 2016 and a report of the Director of Audit of the Public Accounts for the Fiscal Year ended 20 June 2014.
Four of the Bills will be introduces by the Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, one by the Minister for Housing, Lands and Water Resource Management, two by the Minister for Justice, Immigration and National Security and one by the Minister for Youth, Sports, Culture and Constituency Empowerment.
All eight Bills are scheduled to go through Second and Third Readings in the Sitting.
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit will also introduce four bills to Parliament. They are as follows; For Introduction of a Bill for an Act to Amend the Income Tax Act, Chapter 67:01; Supplementary Appropriation Act (2016/2017) Act 2017; For the Introduction of a Bill to Amend the House of Assembly ((Elections) Act 2017; and For the Introduction of a Bill to Amend Registration of Electors Act 2017.
Minister for Housing, Lands and Water Resource Management, Reginald Austrie will introduce an Act to Amend the Aliens Land Holding Regulation Act, No. 17 of 1995.
Minister for Justice, Immigration and National Security, Rayburn Blackmoore will introduce two bills; A Bill for an Act to Amend the Police Act Chapter 14:01 and A Bill for Act to Amend the Title by Registration Act, Chapter 56:50.
Minister for Youth, Sports, Culture and Constituency Empowerment, Justina Charles will introduce A Bill for an Act to Amend the Stamp Act Chapter 68:01.
Meanwhile, there are three questions on the Order Paper for oral response and five for written response.
Two of the questions for oral response are from Member of Parliament for the Marigot Constituency and Member of Parliament for Roseau North Constituency to Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit concerning the Citizenship by Investment Program, while the third is to Minister for Foreign Affairs from Member of Parliament for the Marigot Constituency regarding Iranian national and Dominican Citizen Holder.
The questions for written responses are regarding community development projects, wave overtopping at Melville Hall, temporary bailey bridges, assistance for Campbell residents who suffered loss as a result of Tropical Storm Erika, and the actual banana and non-banana production in Dominica per district and its respective earnings.
