A low level trough is approaching the island, the Weather Outlook for Dominica and the Lesser Antilles valid from: 6:00 AM on Friday, March 17, 2017, indicates.
The advisory is as follows;
The high pressure system will be interrupted later today as a low level trough is expected to approach the area. This is expected to generate an increase in cloudiness and shower activity across the island chain by late afternoon into tonight.
Persons in areas prone to flooding, landslides and falling rocks are advised to be vigilant and to exercise caution.
Moderate seas are expected during the next 24 to 48 hours with waves peaking near 8.0 feet. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution.
Forecast for Today and Tonight: Fair to occasionally cloudy and hazy with a few scattered showers, becoming increasingly cloudy with showers by late afternoon.
Wind: East north easterly to Easterly @ 15 to 35 km/h with higher gust near showers .
Sea Conditions: Moderate in open water.
Waves: Up to 2.5 meters or Up to 8.0 feet.
Warning/Advisory: Small craft operators and sea bathers are advised to exercise caution.
