A new housing development is on the cards for the south-eastern community of Riviere Cyrique.
Ivor Stephenson, who is the Member of Parliament for the Grand Fond Constituency, made the announcement while addressing residents during a town hall meeting.
“As the parliamentary representative, I have already identified a portion of land in Platts for the construction of some twelve new houses for the residents of Riviere Cyrique,” Stephenson said.
Stephenson informed that he has already spoken with Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit on that matter with respect to the supply of the new homes for the Grand Fond Constituency.
“I’m very confident that within this term we expect to see a new housing development in the Platt area in Riviere Cyrique for persons who have no homes,” he stated.
“Not everybody will be able to get one but for those of you who are critically in need of housing we’ll see how best we can address the situation of housing in that part of this village,” Stephenson added.
He however emphasized “the fact that in this constituency there will continue to be needs for housing; whether for the repair of houses, for the construction of new homes”.
